Time and experience teaches everything. Things change, people change. And with them, qualities. Choose to change for the better, always.
KINDNESS
Guiding philosophy, innate character trait, and focus for the month of August.
It's mid 2021 and I don't know if you've noticed, but the world is in shambles. I don't want to under-simplify this, but I think love and kindness could fix most, if not all the "what's wrongs".
Simply put, kindness is the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate.
I personally want to add compassion to that definition *chills
I'm going to try and keep this short by just motivating you to dash a little kindness in your day. There's no need to go around being mean, inconsiderate, hateful or catty.
Who does that serve?
Not them.
Doesn't serve you either.
Just remember we are all going through something and no one's concerns are greater than another's. We may have different ways and levels of coping. Some people are even better at hiding their problems than others. But we're all human and we for sure have a couple of things in common: imperfections & life-changing experiences (whether they be ecstatic, depressive, or in between)
"You are not alone"
So if you think you're a kind of person, try today to apply that kindness to yourself. Self-compassion is more scarce than you think.
And if you have no issue being kind to yourself and your self-love "tun up" as us Jamaicans would say - meaning spectacular - then try extending that kindness to others. They may need it just as much and possibly even more than you do, in that moment.

I think our resistance to kindness is a result of the feedback we receive. Sometimes or acts of kindness are met with surprise, suspicion, and skepticism. My advice? Walk past the trail of S's and -my favorite quote- do it anyway.
Because kindness is as much for you as it is for them. It promotes gratitude, empathy, and compassion for others while having a positive impact on your own well-being.
Helping others feel so damn good.
“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”
Ephesians 4:32
I'm going to wrap up by giving a huuuuge shout-out to one of the kindest beings I know!!!

I've personally known and seen her kindness taken for granted (or weakness as we often call it). But I've also witnessed how many lives she has impacted (including my own) through her unwavering consideration for others. And recently she received an award for just that! Kindness recognized ✔️.
"Wherever there is a human being, there is an opportunity for kindness."
